Jessie Ayles
Jessie received a rigorous film education from prestigious institutions including Warwick University, EICTV in Cuba and Goldsmiths University – where she won a One World Media bursary. Her commercial experience is formidable, with clients such as Nike, Dazed, Google, Universal, Hyundai, Bloomberg, AJ+, Always, Aveda, Burberry, Domestos, Snapchat, Allianz, Channel 4, Chevrolet, Adidas, Reebok and Nissan.
Of South African Jewish heritage, Jessie has developed a particular interest in socially conscious stories from the region, highlighting marginalised voices and injustices with the aim of creating an impact and awareness through her work. Awards include the Social Impact Media Award (SIMA), Best documentary at Barcelona International Short Film Festival, Youth Jury prize at Encounters, and Best documentary at TriForce Film Festival.

"The Enemy" with Karim Ben Khalifa is Part one in a series of films made for the Google Digital News Initiative to amplify and support journalism in the digital age.
Using virtual reality, “The Enemy” allows adversaries to experience first-hand the similarities they have in common creating empathy and understanding instead of focusing on their differences. The project was developed by Karim Ben Khelifa, a journalist and war photographer who felt that traditional journalism was losing the ability to cut through and make an impact in today’s modern world.
